Good Reads

Everybody needs to read. EV.ER.EY.BODY. It is just one of those things that must be done. It brightens the intellect, enriches the soul, and pretty much makes your life more fun. Half of the drawings I have done came in response to good books, or words that are just so beautiful I couldn't not put them down in an image. So, if you are looking for something good to read here is a list of all the books that have made me the creative thinker I am.

Ella Enchanted- #1 on this list because I have read it more times than I can count. I lost track after 20.

The Host- let's not be hatin on Stephenie Meyer. Millions of people have read her books and I am one of them.

Jane Eyre- This book speaks to me. I pretty much am Jane. "Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong! — I have as much soul as you — and full as much heart! And if God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you."

Kite Runner- Heart broken.

The House of the Scorpion- Heart broken again.

Kitchen God's Wife, The Joy Luck Club, The Bonesetter's Daughter- All by Amy Tan, all perfection. This woman is my hero.

Work and the Glory- Read them...all nine of them! Your heart will be happy!

Wuthering Heights- Now, let's be clear. This story is depressing, disturbing, and creepy, but it has its moments and its words which make up for all that. It's worth at least one read...but just the one. And it has this amazing line: "He's more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of his and mine are the same."

Harry Potter- there are no words. Best. Series. Ever.

Elantris- If you are down for a little future world magical fantasy go for this one. It has glowing orbs of light that talk, forbidden cities, diseases that make you lose all your hair, and an awesome female character.

The Great Gatsby- Destroys your faith in modern civilization. But really, By far one of the saddest and most painful books I have ever read. Worth it though!

Lord of the Rings-Because everyone loves to read 600 page books written half in elvish about trees and armor and weapons and more trees. Really, the only reason I recommend reading this book is to be able to say you have done it. Such a great feeling.

Watership Down- Don't be fooled, rabbits lead interesting lives.

The Thief- Biggest surprise twist ending ever!

In the Time of the Butterflies-One day I too will be part of a secret organization that is planning on overthrowing the government .

So yah go find some comfy place to settle down and pick up a book and read it. You won't regret it...well, unless you read the Hunger Games series. I totally regret doing that. I don't think I even finished the last book. Suzanne Collins is not my favorite when it comes to writing good books. Also, Inkheart. That series was not a favorite. I don't think I finished the third book either. Man, I hate it when authors start off so strong and then fade out into some pathetic ending making everyone miserable. Not cool. But yah, go read a book!
